Ok so after the last meeting, I realized that maybe not everyone in the club is interested in a PAR meter and since it will be a large investment, I want to see how many people are actually interested in it.
If we do get a PAR meter it will cost about $300. Only paid members will be allowed to use it and the policies will be that:
1. A deposit for the full value of the PAR meter will have to be put down for rental. 2. A certain amount of days will be allowed per rental. 3. Late returns will result in deduction from the deposit. 4. The PAR meter must be returned in the same shape as it was borrowed or deductions to the deposit will be made for repairs or maintenance.
These rules will be put in place to ensure that all paid members will be given access to a functioning PAR meter.
If you are not that interested in the PAR meter and would rather have the club spend its money on something else just vote no.
If you do not know what a PAR meter is, it is a device that is used to measure the amount of Photosynthetically Available Radiation (light) hence the term PAR. You can use it to test if you need to change your bulbs, if one kind of bulb has more PAR than another, if one lighting fixture is producing more PAR than another, if there are any hot or cold spots in the light field and other things.
If you have any more questions please feel free to ask!

I am still on the fence about it because it seems like the deposit for usage would deter quite a few of our members from using it. I would feel bad using the club money for something so expensive that very few people could use.

i think the best way to get around with the 300 dollars deposit if you and a friend can share the deposit and check each others tanks then return it right away .

Just bought our AI Sols yesterday. If the club decides to purchase the meter, we'd definitely be up for getting in line to place a deposit to borrow it.
