I would like to get some input from everyone on what they think might help us get more people to pay for membership?
I was thinking about increasing the incentives for becoming a paid member.
One idea that Brent and I have been kicking around is having different prices for club things. For instance members would get discounts on raffle tickets and discounts on food when Brent brings food for meetings.
What do people think about having paid member discounts on club stuffs?
Also maybe it would be more clear to say that paid members are members and everyone else is a follower? Just for semantic sake.

SCRK allows paid members to sell at their meetings. MASVC gives a free raffle ticket to each paid member for each meeting. Also, members get free entrance to FRAG and a discount for a table at the event.
I think if paid members get a T-shirt is an incentive to join.

Haha that's kind of funny because those incentives are so inline with the culture behind each club. I wish we could always give away free t-shirts for membership but it is not cost effective.
The only reason we were giving away shirts at CFM is because we had some old stock that we wanted to get rid of since we were getting new shirts. People were complaining about how the old shirts fit (narrow neck openings) and sales seemed to cease on those. So we got nice new ones that are a bit more user friendly and with colors! (Blue and Grey).

Well, as a new person here, I have one suggestion. Make it easier to find how to pay for membership. I was searching around and didn't really find much other than a message to look in the member area but didn't find anything. A sticky post in the General or Intro area could be helpful. I'm just getting back into the hobby after being out of it for several years. Getting a BioCube 29 setup and looking forward to picking people's brains for ideas.

Hey edb. Welcome. As far as paying for the membership. The only ways at the moment is either contact me and we meet up or you go to a meeting and sign up there. Our next meeting isn't set up at the moment as we just had one last Saturday. It will be in the 1st week of July. Where did you hear of sfvr?

I came across the board while doing a search for live rock in the SFV area.
ProBoards is giving me fits this morning. When using Chrome, it kept logging me off every time I changed pages.

My reasons for not paying is I am so fricking poor. I plan on paying soon as I can but would love if I could pay by other means. Like items or services because I can do that easier then money. Maybe someone would want to sponsor my membership and I 'll do a water change or something for them.

I know this is an old thread, but as a new paid member (Along with my partner Nicole) who really enjoyed the holiday party, the first place to start is here by getting this forum active again. I see that once upon a time it was, but maybe the other paid and non paid members have moved on to more active forums like RC & R2R. Also the Facebook page needs to be active in order to keep interest in what this club is doing versus the other clubs. Hopefully we can renew interest in increasing the paid membership and make the club bigger and badder...
