ReeVo, awesome pics! I wish I had a boat. I usually go out on the open party boats locally. I have caught Albacore, Skipjack, Bluefin, Yellowfin tuna and the usual yellowtails. I will post pics soon!

Those are some nice yellows man. Those guys are some big fighters. We'll wait till the warmer water comes around to go fishing. Warm water is still too far out. About 600 miles off of Ensenada, Mexico, which is where our boat is located. Too far and way to dangerous to take you guys out. Unless you guys want to go for some grouper fishing. I just hope you guys have a strong back because those suckers are STRONG. We caught a 500 pound Giant Black Sea Bass in Mexico last year and that thing was a monster. We let it go though. They are illegal in California to keep but i respect anything that lives over a 100 years old. That guys was probably in it's 80's 90's if he weighs that much. 500 pounds is an estimate but after years of fishing, you can almost guess the weight. We can even go for rockcod and halibut fishing. But we got to go Mexico though because thats where we keep the boat. We took our boat down their after all the fishing here went to shit. But I wouldn't mind taking a charter. Here's our boat, it's a 40 foot Cabo. Fully equipt with everything and also dual diesel engines pushing 1600hp. It's a beast : ) Here's some pictures from last years trip. I caught these 2 bad boys. 320lbs Yellowfin and a pretty big Marlin (we always release them)

Damn!!! Your one lucky guy....wish i knew you before my stroke cause i was a bulldog when it came to fishing!! I Did the whole finesse fishing but i loved to hurt, feel that burn and know that a fish kicking my butt! (that way i enjoyed him that much more when i tasted it) I woulda been stupid enough to go after that marlin or tuna without any gear (harness's) HAHAHA I have fought 350lb+ black seabass on the backside of anacapa with out any gear... Its like pulling up a sunken boat! And if you ever get a striped marlin (they are plentyful, compared to blues, blacks) They are very very tasty!!

Anyone been out fishing here in the Channel Islands? They are fishing with live squid and the fishing has been great! I've gone out a few time on the open party boats trying to get the bite on WSB but came home with Baraccuda. I can't wait to go out of San Diego when the Albacore come out....hopefully soon!

Heya Nike, I used to live in hueneme. Knew the operators and captains outta Captain hooks and Ciscos. Never had any lucky for the yellows up there. (hooked one but that damn seal got him) on the frontside of anacapa (when it was legal years ago) Hell i used to "sneak" into hueneme harbor at night saying i was going to the sportfishing and then go fish at the docks. Pulled up NICE sized bugs and lotsa lil rockfish and a few swell sharks and perch... I used to know those islands like the back of my hand, Where to get what, calicos, halibut, reds, grouper...you name it I miss those days!!!

Chef, yeah the landings in VC have changed. Port Hueneme Sportfishing is gone, most of the boats moved to CISCOs and Captn Hooks went bankrupt and changed their name to Papa Hooks. I usually go out on the boats from CISCOs but Ventura Sportfishing is doing really well. Its fun catching Baraccuda but I can't wait till the Tuna bite gets hot in San Diego. When I catch a bunch of tuna, I'll bring some fresh poke to the meeting!
