Anyone here go saltwater fishing? Just wanted to see if anyone had a boat, kayak or would like to go open party fishing. I usually go out once a year on a tuna trip out of San Diego (1 day or 1.5 day) and like to go out on the local open party boats out of Oxnard or Long Beach. I also bought a kayak and started fishing off it last year. Anyone interested, let me know.

Fishing off a kayak sounds awesome I'll have to try that. I'm going to try my hand at ice fishing this year. Much less exciting...unless you fall in.

Yes, kayak fishing is fun but I get a huge thrill out of catching tuna and yellowtail. Ice fishing sounds fun but no where here to try it. Where are you going to fish?

I'm taking Richard ice fishing in Northern Ontario. Its good for Lake Trout, walleye and pike. I just hope we can catch something tasty off the bat so we can cook it up while we wait

Sounds like fun! I imagine there is a shed on top of the hole and you wait for a bite?

I luv ice fishin'! growin' up in Michigan we did that a lot...fishin' off shore here, in a big boat is pretty cool too, never done it in a kayak though, sounds fun. Did you here about that women who was out, on the west side of Catalina, in a kayak and a great white hit her from beneath and she flew up and out of her kayak and landed on top of the shark, STANDING UP!!!!...true story, witnesses and everything...

Shark surfing nice. Yeah. You just pull a hut out onto the lake, carve a nice hole in the ice and play the waiting game. Less exciting than ocean fishing, but you can catch some tasty stuff. nom nom ;D

If there is something I know more about than anything else, it's fishing : ) Me and my dad have a 38ft Cabo DeepSea fishing boat that we keep in Mexico for tuna runs. We go about 2 times a year for tuna runs. If your wondering why we keep the boat in Mexico. It's there because storage fees are alot lower for such a big boat. Plus, thats where all the fish are lol We caught this 900 pound monster Mako off the back side of Santa Barbra Island 3 years ago. My dad and I had the California state record for the Mako since 2003 till 2006 but that has been shattered by a 1058 pound mako But here's the monster. We dragged it over 60 miles which took about 13 hours. The fight was about 10 hours long. I fought with it for the last 5 hours and I felt my like back was broken for a week. We also caught this last year in Mexico. We got 10 yellowtails, about 30 Bonitos, and 4 giant squid lol Good for bait : ) We use the giant squid for catching rockcod and such for the bottom feeders. But ya, im a fish freak hehe : )

For sure man.
We havent gone lately due to bad wheather and water conditions. Water is too cold for anything right now.
Catalina might get some warm water soon but I'm keeping an eye on it. As soon as the warm water comes in, so does the squid. Then it's fishing time : )
